*Meli(My) POV*
High school is a phase that everyone goes through. It could be good for you or it could all go horribly wrong. For me it took the bad path. I was the loner of the school and as you can guess that means I have no friends. This all happened because my best friend, Vanessa, turned into my worst enemy and while she became Ms. Popular she made sure my life was miserable. She goes through boys like a nerd can go through books. It was not all that bad not having friends. But there were times where I felt that I needed to confide in someone. Someone who would be there for me.
A few days after the new academic years started there was a buzz going on in school about this new guy who was apparently really hot and looked like a bad boy. Girls were going crazy about him. Walking through the corridor all I can hear is, “OMG he’s so hot,” or “He’s totally a bad boy. He doesn’t even smile.” What’s so great about him?
As I was about to reach my locker I was slammed against the wall and my bag was taken away from me and everything in it was scattered on the ground. My head hit the wall pretty badly and I’m pretty sure I’m going to have a concussion. Or not. When I looked at my attacker I saw Vanessa’s ‘current’ boyfriend, Cameron, the captain of the basketball team. He’s been harassing me ever since he started dating Vanessa just to make her happy. Cameron had his hand on my neck pushed against the wall. No one tried helping me because they knew that would make him mad.
“let go of me,” I said trying to remove his hand from my throat.
Cameron just laughed and held my neck tighter. Soon all of his friends started gathering around us, that included Vanessa and her friends and they were all laughing. i could feel my breathing getting heavy. It was getting difficult for me. My voice was not coming out of my throat and I felt like I was about to pass out. Just then I felt Cameron’s hand come off me. Immediately as a reflexive action I tried soothing the pain from my neck by rubbing it. I though Cameron removed his hand because eh felt sorry for me, but instead I saw that he was in a fight. It was with a guy who I’ve never seen before. He was wearing a black leather jacket and sunglasses while his hair was perfectly styled.
“Didn’t your parents ever tell you that you NEVER hurt a woman?” he said before punching Cameron square in the face. Cameron had a busted lip but the boy didn’t care, he hit him in the eye next. Cameron became really scared and tried to run away but the boy held him by the collar and said, “I never want to see you laying a finger on this beautiful girl over here or on anyone else. You got that buddy?” the boy asked and Cameron nodded before he ran away.
The boy turned to me and asked, “Are you okay?”
I nodded my head and said, “thank you for that.”
He just smiled and bent down to pick up my bag and my things on the floor, “don’t mention it,” he said as he gave me my bag.
“I’m James Graham,” he said, “I’m the new student here.”
My eyes went wide. So this was the new guy everyone was talking about.
“Hi James, I’m Melina, but you can call me Meli,” I said nervously trying to maintain eye contact.
“Pretty name for a pretty girl,” he said, and then he added, “So since I’m new to this school and this city would you mind showing me around sometime?”
“Are you asking me out on a date?” I asked staring at him.
“Maybe,” he said smirking.
“Um…sure,” I said and he smiled.
I saw his schedule and saw we had many classes together including the one now so we both walked to my next class together with everyone staring.
